Panama,seafood Exports contracted by 25%

The situation for exports of frozen yellowfin tuna, fresh fish and fillet of fish during the first quarter of this year, has not improved, although the statistics of the Comptroller General of the Republic show a rebound from a 0. 5%, said the president of the Exporters Association of the Sea (Apexmar), Valerio De Sanctis, who estimated that the activity could have been contracted by 25% during this period.

Jealsa Launches Tuna In Tetra Pack With Walmart USA

rianxeiraJealsa, the Spanish canning firm producer of the Tuna Snacks Rianxeira, has signed a contract with global retail leader Wal-Mart to commercialize its tuna in the US market, after several years of negotiations.

Jealsa managed to close the deal after fulfilling strict safety and hygiene standards stipulated by Wal-Mart.

$US20 million tuna cannery for PNG

fish_market_tokyoA Chinese company has signed an agreement to build a $US20 million tuna cannery in Papua New Guinea.

The National newspaper reports that work will be carried out by the Zhoushan Zhenyang Deep-Sea Fishing Company and a partner from Taiwan.

Braswell is expanding its presence in Panama

Braswell Dry DockPANAMA. Maritime activity is to suffer the effects of international crises, but this is not an impediment for Braswell yards to aim high.

It is the only shipyard in the Pacific coast, from Los Angeles to Chile with capacity to serve Panamax vessels.But this record does not appear to be sufficient. The company will invest in the next few years 100 million dollars for the construction of a new dam with a capacity to receive post-Panamax.
