The tuna industry employer associations and Opagac ANABAC, which together represent 100% of the Spanish tropical tuna fleet, today rejected the transport of private security on their ships in the Indian Ocean.
In a press release explained this waiver to use the services of private security companies to provide protection for their vessels, when considering this route unsafe, inadequate and impossible to reserve requirements.
In fact, the owners believe that, no private system can be compared to the professionalism and legal security posed by Spanish marines, whose expertise in an environment as complex as the sea and the close follow-up out of military security protocols, ensure that all actions comply with the law.
Finally, they reiterate that the only solution for them is the shipment of Marines in the Spanish flag tuna seiner fleet, as did the French government and even willing, and they have repeatedly pointed to the Government, defray costs that this involves.
